efrancamusic.weebly.com This Quarter: kinder classes-Lucy Locket and Let Us Chase the Squirrel (C G simple bordun ), First- I'm a Nut and Oats and Beans and Barley Grow ( C G broke bordun), Second- Chatter with the Angels and Donkey Riding (F C' moving bordun F E D C- Donkey Riding- F C' moving A G F Chatter...), Third- African Songs- Funga Alafia and Kokoleoko Recorder and Orff simple chord arrangement with percussion)
You NEED to get Jeff and Randy's books - I think As American As Apple Pie or Strike It Rich has the lesson "Listen" - perfect for a first week intro to instruments! Just modify the lesson for the age of kids! You could make other rhymes for the little kids..... Xylophones are made of wood It makes them sound very good
Metalophones are made of metal Let's play them high low and in the middle
Glockenspiels are metal and tiny They have bars that are really shiny
The poems in the book are a little wordy for the little kids.
Denise Mock, Lake Whitney Elementary
I use Artie Almeda's book, Mallet Madness, great rotation ideas, lesson plans, book connections and pieces. I use them with all of my grades K-5 they love them!!!
Ex. 4: Share a Shape - This is What I Can Do song (to tune of Skip to the Lou, My Darlin')
1. This is what I can do, this is what I can do, this is what I can do, can you do it too?
Class sings while one student performs nonlocomotor movements - bending, stretching, pulling, pushing, lifting, swinging, turning, and twisting; Everyone performs same movement while singing 2nd verse:
2. We can do it just like you, we can do it just like you, we can do it just like you. We can do it, too.
